Program Description Information and Communication Studies (ICS) is online, interactive, and connected. Society is in the midst of a fundamental shift in how we communicate with each other, access information, and view popular culture. As an ICS student on our Saint John campus, you will cast a critical eye on the impact of new technologies and processes on our social, political, economic, and cultural landscapes. Topics include the decline of newspapers, radio, and television; the rise of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media; the impact of mobile computing; and the eternal question of ‘do we control our devices or do our devices determine who we are?’ Unlike many similar programs, which focus on one discipline’s perspective, our program is multidisciplinary. This means you’ll learn about complex topics from multiple fields of study and perspectives, including Sociology, Psychology, and History. Small classes led by accomplished academics and media practitioners will provide you with a unique amount of attention, encouragement, and mentorship. Hands-on learning Media internships Work-study opportunities Practicum courses Other experiential learning opportunities Skills you will acquire Critical thinking and problem solving Communication (written and oral) Organizational Interpersonal Research and analysis Media production techniques
